What is Worship? singing, playing a musical instrument, lifting your hands in the air?
Worship can include all these things, but if that is all we mean when we say WORSHIP, we are using the word WRONG.
Worship is a surrender of your life consumed by God
ROMANS 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers,
"Therefore" is not a word that you would start a conversation with. Paul is now coming to a conclusion from the previous chapters. He has just go done with explaining the mercies of God and now He is coming to the application part of his texts. In others words what you should do in response to all that.Paul is making an appeal. Every word from Paul is important in Scripture because it is coming from the Holy Spirit, but Paul says He needs them to especially listen up even more. He is URGING you as fellow brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ to listen up and do as he says. It reminds me of when a parents urges their kids not to do something because they have been through it and don't want their kids to have to suffer through the same consequences.
In view of God’s mercy,
Chapters 1-11 in Romans are about the mercies of God, now Paul is telling us what to do in response to the Mercy God has shown to us!
to offer your bodies as living sacrifices,
This is what worship is all about! We are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. I believe that we are made in two parts: body and spirit. We often think of worship as done with our spirits/souls. But it is just as important to worship God with our bodies. In fact, I think the greatest evidence of our soul-worship is having a good body-worship. This word living sacrifice is such an oxymoron and made no sense until after Christ. All through the OT, people were sacrificing animals as acts of worship to God. They were dying sacrifices. Jesus offered Himself up as a living sacrifice. Just as the OT Israelite offered their sacrificial animals to the priest, we are presenting our bodies to Christ…daily…as a living sacrifice. Here, inspect me. Use me. All that I am.. use me as a reflection of the gospel – the greatest sacrifice.
This means Sexually. What you look at. What you hear. Where you go. What you wear? What you say. What goes in to your body. Serving. Purity.
holy and acceptable to God,
Holy means set apart and what is acceptable to God is nothing but a Holy sacrifice of your life. We know that what we do with our bodies is either an act of worship or act of rebellion against God. Holiness is acceptable to God! We know what Holy isn't. In order to be Holy You DON'T need to drink, you DON"T need to cuss, you DON"T need to lie, You DON"T need to lust, You DON"T need to be selfish, You DON'T need to be Prideful.
What are the DO's of being HOLY?
Now that i know what all the DONTS are..... What do i DO?
Thirst the Word of God, Speak Glory to God's name, Spread the loving Truth of God's Word, Find True Love in Christ Jesus and His plan for your life, Serve others with a selfless attitude, and humbly lead others around you to CHRIST
which is your spiritual worship.
The word Spiritual in the greek is more likely to be understood as reasonable. In other words, This is the only reasonable way to worship.. with your life, with everything that you do Worship HIM!
Evaluate your life and now ask yourself not what is Worship, but how have you been worshiping God, or better yet have you been worshiping God at all.
If your life shows no signs of worship, it is possible that you don’t have a relationship with Christ. The Bible tells us that we can judge a tree by its fruits. An apple comes from an apple tree, not an orange tree. A Christian well.. acts like a Christian .In other words, if your life shows no sign of change then that means you haven’t truly accepted Christ and started a relationship with God.
If you want to accept Jesus Christ talk to Pastor Jerad or one of the adult leaders.
